CASEWORK MANAGER ? COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEAM

THE ORGANISATION:

AsIAm, a not-for-profit organisation, is Ireland?s national autism
charity based in Blackrock, Co Dublin. AsIAm is a fast paced and
growing organisation that works tirelessly to create a society in
which every autistic person is empowered to reach their own personal
potential and fully participate in society.

NATIONAL AUTISM INFORMATION LINE SERVICE:

AsIAm?s Autism Information Line currently provides support to the
Autism community through providing service users with information and
support on a range of autism related matters, and making appropriate
referrals to relevant organisations and supports as necessary. Service
users are interacted with via phone, email and instant messaging
options. Typical matters we support the family with may centre on
child and adult diagnosis, education, employment, and child and adult
daily living skills.

THE ROLE:

The Casework Manager will report to the Head of Community Support.
They will be responsible for the line management of **Apply on the
website** staff members within the community support team. This role
provides an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience in
casework management, as well as delivering effective therapeutic
supports to autistic people, a deep knowledge of autistic culture, and
autism related issues in Ireland.

The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate in a
sensitive and professional manner with autistic individuals and
families at their most vulnerable and challenging times. They will
also have the ability to provide both informal and formal training on
autism related matters to members of the Community Support team as
required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide direct management and supervision of **Apply on the

* Oversee the handling of all service users cases the community
support team holds involvement in
* Ensure the information line demonstrates sound governance
* Chair weekly casework meetings and support community support team
members with effective support of service users
* Support team with safeguarding concerns under the guidance of the
organisation DSO
* Contribute to the maintenance of good safeguarding practice across
the organisation
* Review and adhere to protocols and policies in the operation of
the Information Line to ensure compliance with all regulation and best
practise guidelines and a consistency in approach
* Provide and support risk assessment and management of all
activities within the information line
* Oversee trend analysis on the level, type, and frequency of
service users and at times present this information to relevant
stakeholders and team members
* Provide advocacy for service users by liaising with external
agencies
* Communicate with all service users in a sensitive and professional
manner
* Demonstrate information seeking and rapport building through
probing conversations with service users
* Make appropriate and timely referrals to other team members or
external agencies
* Engage in appropriate training to meet the evolving needs of the
service, as required
* Identify team training needs
* Provide both informal and formal training on a regular and
consistent basis to information line team
* Document all service user interactions in an objective,
professional manner
* Participate in the overall team to ensure collaborative teamwork
and support other team members as required
* Develop resources, information materials and support events based
on needs identified through trend analysis
* Represent the organisation at external meetings/seminars
* Support the overall work of the organisation and take on other
such duties as may be required from time to time
* Work collaboratively with other disciplines and officers within
the organisation to build the capacity of the team through delivering
internal training or guidance as required

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

_EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED_

* A minimum of two years? experience in providing effective and
evidence-based therapeutic support to autistic adults or children in a
health, social care or educational setting
* Experience of managing team members
* Ability to communicate highly effectively with a diverse community
of people, both in interactions and in writing
* Experience in providing informal and formal training on a range of
autism related issues to different stakeholder groups
* Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills
* Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of autism, contemporary
autistic culture and autism related issues in Ireland
* Understanding of the Irish education, social care and healthcare
system
* Ability to operate independently on a range of projects/duties
* Strong computer literacy
* Strong administrative skills
* Excellent risk analysis and management skills
* Relevant academic qualification (educational/clinical psychology /
speech and language therapy / occupational therapy)

_OTHER REQUIREMENTS RELEVANT TO THE ROLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL ARE:-_

* Knowledge of disability legislation and public policy
* Experience of creating universal educational resources for the
autism community
* Experience in line management

CONTRACT DURATION

This is a three year fixed term role with a view to permanency.

SALARY & BENEFITS

AsIAm will offer salary and benefits commensurate with AsIAm pay scale
and experience.

WORKING HOURS

The role is Monday to Friday, 9:**Apply on the website** am to
5:**Apply on the website** pm.
The role holder is required to have a degree of flexibility with
regard to working hours with the expectation of some evening and
weekend work due to the nature of the events.

REMOTE WORKING

The role is based in AsIAm HQ in Blackrock, Co Dublin. In the most
part, this will be an office based role. Following a successful
probation, people do have the right to apply for remote working where
it is appropriate to the role.
